Spanish Language Day was founded by the United Nation Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2010 along with French Language Day, English Language Day, Chinese Language Day, Russian Language Day and Arabic Language Day. Spanish Language Day is observed on 23rd of April on the death anniversary of Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra to celebrate the rich history and the cultural of the language.

Many events are held on this day throughout the Spanish speaking regions of the world. It is often celebrated by reading Miguel De Cervantes Saavedra’s novels. His most works are Don Quixote, The Dialogue of the Dog and The Little Gypsy Girl, among many other works of literature.
