Hindi language is a member of the Indo- Aryan group of languages whose roots are connected to Sanskrit. Hindi is one of the official languages in India and also the most preferred language all over the country. It is spoken by 425 million people throughout the sub-continent of India with an additional 120 million people speaking it as a second language. This makes Hindi spoken by 43.63% of the total population. Hindi is also the world’s third most spoken native language, after Mandarin and Spanish, with 600 million speakers across the world.

Hindi Diwas or the Hindi Language day is celebrated on 14th September every year. It in celebrated on that day because on 14th September, 1949 Hindi was adopted as an official language of India by the Constituent Assembly of India. Hindi Diwas in being celebrated since 1953.

Hindi Diwas is observed to celebrate its diversity, culture and rich history throughout India. India is a secular country and there are people belonging to different religion who speak different mother tongues but Hindi is a language that is common to every one of them.
